Planning for Extreme Heat Practice Note Released

Planning for Extreme Heat Practice Note Released

The Planning Institute of Australia (Queensland Division) has released their first Practice Note in a series of three on Planning for Extreme Heat:

  • Practice Note 1 is about Understanding Heat Hazard
  • Practice Note 2 will cover the Role of Planning in Mitigating Heat Risk
  • Practice Note 3 will provide Case Studies and Further Information

The Practice Note series is being produced by the Planning Institute of Australia’s Queensland Climate Conscious Planning Systems Working Group, which includes Tahlia Rossi and Richard Sharp from Water Technology.

These practice notes will provide a valuable resource as awareness raising continues about Heat Hazards and the direct and indirect health, environmental and economic impacts as a result of increasing intensity and severity of extreme heat events.

Water Technology provides expert services in this emerging field of extreme heat resilience and adaptation.  Recent work includes development of an Extreme Heat Strategy for a Council in NSW.
