Networking in the Northern Territory

The Australian Water Association NT branch hosted great Sundowner events last week in Alice Springs and Darwin.

From Incident to Insights – Stephen Vlahovic from Power and Water Corporation presented on Lessons in Leadership from the (Darwin River Dam) Flood Response.

Usually surface water from the Darwin River Dam is the key source of water supply for Darwin and surrounds. However, following flooding of the Darwin River Dam pump station on Monday 9th March earlier this year due to unprecedented rainfall and flash flooding, supply from the dam was disrupted.

Groundwater came to the rescue, with water supply to Darwin being supplemented from the back-up borefields. The operations and maintenance teams worked around the clock to bring the system back into operation. Great leadership and teamwork came to the rescue in a challenging situation when such an essential service for the community and industry is affected.

Water Technology were proud to be the catering partner for the Darwin event which had a fantastic turnout and was a great opportunity to network with the NT water community.

Stay tuned for the next event in the NT: Upcoming Events
