Congratulations to all involved in the Shoreline Mangrove Offset Project that recently won the 2025 Sustainability Award at the UDIA Queensland Awards for Excellence.

This recognition reflects the hard work and collaborative efforts of the project team over many years, from project conception to completion.

Water Technology is proud to have been the initiator of this project and to have been able to work with the project team to see it successfully delivered.

The early vision has now become a reality. Degraded land on the banks of the Logan River in South East Queensland has been transformed into a vibrant intertidal mangrove wetland that is already delivering measurable environmental, ecological and climate benefits, which will only increase in magnitude as the mangroves grow and mature over coming years. The mangroves will offset nutrient loads from a new sewage treatment plant – which will start releasing recycled water in the next week or so!

Water Technology looks forward to monitoring the progress of this mangrove wetland and sharing the outcomes with the industry.
