There are a range of markets, both privately and government managed, that are in operation in Australia to promote investment in the long-term repair, restoration and protection of the environment and nature. The Federal Government markets are the Carbon Market and the Nature Repair Market. These markets are administered by the Clean Energy Regulator and are designed to encourage nature-positive land management practices as well as lay the foundation for a sustainable future.
Projects registered in the Carbon Market receive Australian Carbon Credit Units and these can be used as carbon offsets. Projects registered in the Nature Repair Market receive a tradeable Biodiversity Certificate.
