Nikki Harrington

Nikki has 25 years’ experience in the groundwater industry, across the academic, government and private sectors. Her main area of interest is the application of environmental tracer and numerical modelling techniques to address questions relating to resource sustainability and management. More recently, Nikki’s focus has been on delivering science that addresses specific questions and needs of stakeholders. She has led numerous major resource assessment investigations in the Murray Basin, Eyre Peninsula and the South East of South Australia, including application of niche geochemistry and isotope techniques, and worked closely at the interface between science and water management.

Nikki was a Principal Hydrogeologist and Groundwater Modeller at Innovative Groundwater Solutions for nine years and worked with a range of projects for irrigation, mining and government clients, with a strong emphasis on the development of robust conceptual models, fit-for-purpose, defensible numerical models and strategic approaches for the management of groundwater resources. Nikki regularly works in a peer review role to ensure that clients achieve the best scientifically-based outcomes.

Nikki joined Water Technology in December 2024 and was appointed as a Director of Water Technology in February 2025.
