Tree Planting Day
National Tree Day, established by Planet Ark in 1996, is a call to action for all Australians to get their hands dirty and give back to their community.
While the day is celebrated on the last Sunday in July each year, Water Techers Claire Morgan, Dominic Roche and Elsa Burnell joined the South Gippsland Landcare Network, the Gippsland Threatened Species Action Group, Oates Environmental, NRM crews from Bunurong Land Council and Bass Coast Landcare for a day of planting on a property in Arawata (Victoria) on the 16th July.
A broad range of native species were planted in zones designed to reduce erosion while not “dry out” the habitat of the Giant Gippsland Earthworms (GGE’s) nearby.
Water Technology Pty Ltd is proud to support these community initiatives and also to be a partner in the Giant Gippsland Earthworm soil hydrology monitoring project, funded by the Australian Government’s Saving Native Species Program.
