James Hopkinson

Jim is a Hydrogeologist with previous experience in geology, geophysics and hydrogeology within the energy and mining sectors.

Having studied a BSc (Hons) in Geology and Geophysics at the University of Adelaide he went on to complete a MSc in Resource Management which included a dissertation on the impact, management and optimisation of groundwater and surface water use in the Angas Bremer Irrigation District, South Australia.

He has also used modelling to look at surface water-groundwater interactions and the impact of mine dewatering and discharge on hydrology and ecology in areas of intermittent rainfall.

Jim worked as a geophysicist in the oil and gas industry before making the switch back to hydrogeology in 2020 to work at a remote mine in South Australia. He was involved with the planning and undertaking of aquifer investigations to estimate aquifer properties that aid in the modelling and forecasting of production.

Jim joined Water Technology in September 2021 with the intention of utilising his skillset and experience to provide services to a range of projects.
